“KARANWAS” the village of Suryaputra KARAN is now an Anonymous Place.


Karan “Son of Suta, belonging to charioteer caste” was actually Surya putra.

As a young woman Kunti, the princess had been granted a boon by sage Durvasa to be able to invoke any deity to give her a child. Eager to test the power, while still unmarried, she called upon the Lord Surya and was handed a son Karna wearing armour (Kavacha) and a pair of earrings (Kundala). Afraid of being an unwed mother Kunti, placed the baby in a basket and set him afloat on a river.

Which was found by Adhiratha and his wife Radha, they raised the boy as their own son and named him Vasusena. He also came to be known as Radheya, the son of Radha.

Karanwas is a village in district bulandshahr Uttarpradesh India on the bank of river Ganga. Name of this village is after the name of Karan of mahabharat times, where he used to donate 50 kilogram of gold to the poor daily. A temple of Karana is still here. Its a religious place and well known for ancient times Maa Kalyani Temple is too here. These two temples of karanwas are the reason behind fame of this village in nearby area. These temples are ancient and of mahabharat times and idols of maa kalyani situated here are around 3000 year old.

Even after being such a mythological place, hardly people know about it.

Karna, is one of the central characters in the Hindu epic Mahabharat, from ancient India. He was the King of Anga (present day Bhagalpur  and Munger ). Karna was one of the greatest warriors, whose martial exploits are recorded in the Mahabharat  and the only warrior believed to be able to defeat Arjuna in battle. Karna was the only warrior in the Mahabharata who single-handedly successfully conducted Digvijaya Yatra, conquering all kings in every direction of the world in order to establish Duryodhana as the emperor of the world. Karna was the closest friend of Duryodhana  and fought on his behalf against the Pandavas (his brothers) in the famous Kurukshetra war . Karna fought against misfortune throughout his life and kept his word under all circumstances. Many admire him for his courage and generosity. It is believed that Karna founded the city of karnal, in present Haryana. Karna, is often quoted for their sacrifice, courage, charity, valour and selflessness they exhibited for helping a fellow being.
